Sock Options

Happy Socks - $12.00, Banana Republic - $10.50, Polo by Ralph Lauren - $12.00

So you went shoe shopping and you have a good amount of nice shoes for the year. You’re done. Well, not exactly.  After getting your shoe game up you’ve got to make sure you have the right sock options that highlight your footwear and boost the sharpness of your whole outfit.  Black socks and gym socks can no longer be your only choices.

A general rule of thumb for socks is that it must show a nice contrast from the pants you’re wearing.  Don’t wear the same color as your pants and forget about color coordinating with the shoes.  If anything, they should be coordinated with some color you’re wearing up top for a complete look. However, if you’re daring, you can wear a sock with a completely different color that will draw the eyes down to that great new pair of shoes you bought.

The only exception to coordinating socks with pants would be if you were to wear a pair of blue jeans.  Find a nice pair of dark or light blue casual socks to keep the look casual yet stylish.

Finally, you do have the option to forgo wearing any socks at all.  This is something we’d recommend doing during the summer with a nice boat shoe and rolled-up pants cuff for an easy-going look.  However, it is possible to do this with dressier clothes, but you have to have the confidence to pull it off.

Now you have the sock options to make your feet look elite.  So, get to steppin’!

We all know fashion changes every season, but most times it’s hard to catch the small tweaks to an already popular trend.  Well we’ve definitely caught on to the small change in military and designers seem to be following the … Continue reading

In The Trenches for Fall

Burberry: Retail $3,950,00

What do Clark Kent (Super Man), Humphrey Bogart, and Inspector Gadget all have in common? If you guessed a trench coat you are absolutely correct. These famous men all wore the classic trench coat.

The history of the trench coat is a topic debated over time, but the commonly accepted story in the creation of the trench starts with Thomas Burberry who designed these multi-functional light jackets for the British military during world war one.  The coat was dubbed a “trench coat” by the soldiers who named it after the ditches they dug to protect themselves from enemy fire.

Banana Republic: Retail $225.00

Today you can find these practical coats many places at various price ranges.  These coats can be found anywhere from the local thrift stores to higher-end retailers.  The best thing about these coats is that today’s designers are putting their own spin on the classic coat.  This coat is perfect for fall because it is light enough for those cool fall evenings, plus it adds a touch of class to any outfit.

Gap: Retail $118.00

Burberry: Retail $3,550,00

We Can Be Heroes!

It’s summer and that means big super hero blockbusters at the box office.  Big fights, explosions, and somewhat annoying romance scenes are in full swing.  However, if your favorite hero donned the worst of outfits, you’d probably forget all about saving the world and just want to save your money.  Super hero fashion is highly important in the worlds of comics and movies.  So why not in the real world?  Pick up on these hot items and you too can have some super style.

Batman

The Dark Night Rises isn’t out yet (don’t you wish it was?), but we still have a soft spot for Batman.  What costume is complete without a cape?  We’re not advocating you go and get a cape, but the right jacket on your back can make you…fly (pun intended).

Guess - $128

This jacket from Guess sports two angular zippers on the front and a hood to hide your secret identity.  The hood’s also removable if you’ve got one of those faces where nobody can recognize you in costume…like Superman.

Every super hero has his tights.  Just check out the Green Lantern.  They allow for quick, easy movement and the ability to kick some serious butt.  Hopefully you won’t have to open any cans of whoop-ass anytime soon, so let’s settle for a slim-fitting chino instead.  Banana Republic’s Emerson chino is a “vintage-straight fit” (slim fit) that is both form-fitting and comfortable.

Banana Republic - $59.50

Last, but not least, you need your weapon.  Thor’s got his hammer.  Can you do better?  Okay, so a kitchen knife is probably better, but you know what I mean.  And since walking around with either will probably make you out to be more of a villain, let’s try a different approach.

Samsung - from $499.99

The new Samsung Galaxy Tab is a hero’s Excalibur – a dream.  And while not a piece of clothing, it’s always important to have the most fashionable tech.  It does everything expected of a tablet with the flair that every hero needs.  Most importantly, it keeps the world away from your arch-nemesis and puts it to your fingertips.
